As a school we are proud of our tradition of academic achievement. We offer a wide curriculum at all Key Stages which gives the opportunity for all our pupils to achieve their potential. We can proclaim that some of our pupils have reached the highest possible standards at GCSE and Advanced levels. We are also proud that a number of our students have excelled in their chosen courses at Oxford and Cambridge and many other universities in Wales and England.
As well as being a bi-lingual school we also offer our pupils, whilst at school, the opportunity to take French/German in alternate years in years 7-9, and further to add Spanish in years 10/11. All languages are available then for study in the Sixth Form.
We believe that our strategies as staff and Governors have secured the best possible computer resources for all our pupils, and also for members of the community who use our facilities during the evenings.
On the sporting front the school has developed an excellent reputation - the boys and girls teams compete regularly with increasing success. We have rugby, football, cricket, hockey, netball, rounders, swimming and athletics teams and various recreational clubs, and many pupils have gone on to achieve National honours.
The school has won praise and prizes at the Urdd and National Eisteddfodau. Our pupils have won major prizes in the Rhondda Young Musician competition and the Public Speaking Teams have received National recognition in both the English and Welsh language competitions. In the world of drama we have established a fine reputation and have been winners at the Urdd Eisteddfod and at the Taff Ely Festival. A school production is staged annually. We have also produced several stars of stage and screen.
