Pupils and staff sing to raise money for Tÿ Hafan

Congratulations to Year 12 student Ellie Smith following her recent efforts to raise funds for Tenovus. Ellie organised a 'Wear Pink to School Day' and with support from match funding and Gift Aid contributions, the total amount raised was a fantastic £1,869.75. We are very proud of your efforts Ellie and a big well done also to all our pupils who were so generous in their support to her campaign.

Congratulations to Year 9 student, Demi Letherby, on an excellent performance in the new drama series ' Un Bore Mercher', currently being aired on S4C. Ardderchog Demi!

We were so pleased to welcome past pupil, Lloyd Macey, back to our school, following his recent successful journey on this year's ' X Factor! Thank you very much Lloyd - we are all very proud of you!

We extend our warmest congratulations to everyone who played a part in our annual production, staged once again at The Park and Dare Theatre. 'Y Siop' is the Welsh language version of the popular musical 'The Little Shop of Horrors'. Yet again, the production was an opportunity to showcase some of the best talent in the Rhondda. To our fantastic pupils, our supportive parents and dedicated staff, thank you very much and Congratulations!

Congratulations to Ysgol Gyfun Cwm Rhondda's Public Speaking Team on winning the National Public Speaking competition for the third consecutive year. Seren Farrup, Evie Connolly and Jenni Page, all Sixth Form students, competed against 7 other schools in the final of the Welsh medium competition, held at Welsh Assembly Building, Tŷ Hywel, on Monday 13th November and organised by Rotari Cymru. Jenni was named second runner up in Best Proposer award, Seren also won award for Best Chairperson of the competition, whilst Evie was announced Best Opposer and also took the award for Best Speaker of the entire competition. This is a fantastic achievement for the team!

Chair of the Governing Body, John Bryant, said “Congratulations, I’m so proud - and congratulations also to the staff that coached the team. What an achievementfor the second year running and nine years in all!"
