Smoothies Arrive at Cymer
Our new smoothie bar ‘Xing' was launched in school last week. This exciting initiative is run by school pupils who will be running and managing the bar every lunch time. Come and enjoy some healthy smoothie options!
Stars of Welsh Stage Visit Cymer
We were privileged to welcome talented Welsh actors Maureen Rhys and John Ogwen to school on Thursday, April 11th. They led a workshop organised by The Welsh Department for our Sixth Form students who are studying the drama ‘Siwan' as part of their A Level studies. The students were enthralled and wish to thank Maureen and John for such an inspiring afternoon.
Cymer 24 - 5 St Albans
Cymer stormed into the Vase Cymru final with a convincing 24-5 victory over St Albans School, Gwent. The boys' impressive performance this year has set up an exciting finale to the season, with the prospect of winning a League and Cup double.
Warmest congratulations to the students who competed in a challenging 7 a side Rugby Tournament, hosted by The Urdd last week in Llanelli. Our boys reached the final following wins against schools such as Ysgol Glantâf, Ysgol y Pant and Howells School.
Comic Relief Fundraising Fun
Many thanks to everyone for their hard work collecting money for Comic Relief. Special thanks to 7M for raising over £100 selling fairy cakes, and to the teachers for organising a competitive game of netball and raising over £90. In total, over £1000 was raised - fantastic!
Duke of Edinburgh Award Ceremony
Congratulations to our talented students who recently celebrated achieving their Duke of Edinburgh Awards. The prestigious ceremony at the Park and Dare theatre was led by Sixth Form student Aaron Fowler who was representing the school and county as the evening's compere! Congratulations to all students who were involved.
'Speak Out' Challenge
Year 10 students took part in a variety of workshops recently, aimed at developing pupils' public speaking skills as well as developing self-confidence and motivation. The workshops were extremely successful, and we very much look forward to welcoming members of the ‘Speak Out' team back to our school in the future.
