Sunday, March 24, 2019

This week saw the marking of the end of our Year 11 students' formal education at Ysgol Gyfun Cwm Rhondda.

Congratulations to Year Eleven pupil, Mathew Berry aged sixteen, who competed in the Tang Soo Do martial art World Championship over the weekend.

Many congratulations to Year 11 pupil Kesia Coburn on her recent sky dive at Swansea Air Field. This plucky 16 year old from Treorchy raised a fantastic £500 for Welsh charity Ty Hafan by holding an Easter Raffle, baking cakes to sell at break-time and collecting sponsorship money. Fantastic Kesia, we admire your bravery very much!

Staff and pupils wish the very best to all our students who will be commencing their external examinations next week. We are confident that their hard work, perseverance and dedication, along with the support of their teachers, will pay dividends in the summer. Pob hwyl i chi gyd!

Talented singer and Year 8 pupil, Chloe Wilson has just completed a period of rehearsals with the National Youth Training Choir of Wales.

Following months of fierce competition from a total of at least 4,000 schools from across Britain, the time finally came for the Public Speaking Team of Ysgol Ysgol Gyfun Cwm Rhondda to travel to Cranleigh School, Guildford to compete against the seven best British teams in the final of the ‘Youth Speaks' competition, organised by the Rotary Club of Great Britain.

Football supremo and Ysgol Gyfun Cwm Rhondda pupil Declan Dalley has achieved his ultimate goal after being signed up for Manchester United!
