Following months of preparation, this year's much anticipated Gala Concert was held in the school Hall last week.

Our school choir was very fortunate to be invited to perform at the'Welcome to Wales' Ryder Cup special concert, at the Millenium Stadium.

This week saw the launch of a highly successful scheme at Y Cymer 'Cymer Ofal' - 'Take Care'. The Peer Mentoring Scheme, which this year celebrates its fifteenth birthday, aims to develop the relationship between our youngest and oldest pupils. This week, the lunch time club was launched, where Year 7 pupils have a chance to interact with our Sixth Form Mentors and make new friends.

Dedicated athlete and swimmer Chloe Tutton, Year 10 has once again reached the top, this time at the UK School Games Swimming Championship.

Staff, Year 12 prefects and new Year 7 pupils had a fantastic time last week on the annual 'Cwrs Haf' - the Summer Course.

Staff and pupils at Ysgol Gyfun Cwm Rhondda were celebrating once again this year as 62% of our GCSE results reached A* - C grades. Every single Cymer pupil sitting GCSE's this year has achieved at least 1 grade and around 1/4 of the year group achieved between 10 and 14 GCSE's and include one pupil who sat her GCSE's a year early and attained a remarkable 4A* 8A and 1 B.
