For the ninth year in succession, Ysgol Gyfun Cwm Rhondda has secured its place in the National Final of the Welsh Public Speaking competition organised by the Rotary club. This year, a brand new team, consisting of Year 12 students James John Owen and Sarah Louise Jones, and Year 9 student, Daniel Davies, travelled to Ysgol Gyfun Rhydywaun to compete against ten other comprehensive schools in the District Round of this prestigious competition. Cymer's track record in this competition is second to none; last year's team reached the British Finals in the English medium competition, and all three members of the Welsh speaking team scooped the three individual prizes, with the team securing first place in the Welsh medium final two years ago. The standard attained by Sarah, James and team Chairman Daniel - the youngest competitor in the competition, was once again extremely high and following a first class competition, the team secured their place, once again, in this year's final, to be held at Crickhowell House, Cardiff Bay. As a school, we are immensely proud of these three talented individuals, and we look forward to supporting the Cymer team, once again, in this year's final.
