After securing their place for the ninth year in succession in the Welsh Public Speaking competition, organised by the Rotary Club of Wales, the Ysgol Gyfun Cwm Rhondda team, consisting of Year 12 pupils James John Owen, Sarah Louise Jones and Year 9 pupil Daniel Davies, travelled to Crickhowell House in Cardiff Bay for this year's final.

School Choir

Staff welcomed Year 7 parents to the school this week for our annual Skills Evening. This important event in our school calendar is an opportunity for parents to meet with members of staff and to learn more about the skills curriculum for Year 7 and Year 8 pupils.

Chloe Tutton

Talented Cymer pupil Chloe Tutton's achievements in the pool have been nationally recognised. Following weeks of voting, Year 10 pupil Chloe was declared the under 16 Young Welsh Swimmer at the recent Swim Wales Recognition Awards ceremony 2010.

For the ninth year in succession, Ysgol Gyfun Cwm Rhondda has secured its place in the National Final of the Welsh Public Speaking competition organised by the Rotary club.

Josh Withers

Joshua Withers, a sixth form student at Ysgol Gyfun Cwm Rhondda, has once again reached the top of his sport, winning a silver medal in this Year's World Kickboxing Championships.


I couldn't believe my luck when the letter came through the post informing me I had been chosen to watch the recent Ryder Cup. I had been chosen by RCT, along with a friend, to represent Rhondda Golf Club - what an honour!
