The department offers the students an opportunity to follow the BTEC First Diploma in Health and Social Care. The course is designed to provide specialist work related qualification, which provides a thorough preparation for employment within the Health and Social Care field. The course will focus on:

Providing opportunities to acquire skills and knowledge

The role of health or social care worker, their relationship with patients and their responsibilities towards patients.

Providing opportunities for learners to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal qualities and attributes for successful performance in working life
Key Stage 5
We offer the WJEC AS/A Level, the course provides an excellent foundation to further education and careers within the health and social care field. During the year/two years, students will gain the opportunity to:

Organise events in order to promote healthier lifestyles

Develop a full understanding of the health and social care field

Analyse and study the full provision of health and social care services

Develop skills to deal with health clients

Gain opportunities to develop a range of skills required within the workplace and higher education

Develop key skills, namely; communication, application of number, working with others and information technology.
Progression/Career Opportunities
Due to the wide ranging topics covered the course provides an excellent foundation to a career in Nursing, Primary Teaching, Social Services. The course provides excellent progression to Higher Education.
